Over the years, many companies benefitted from our free 6 Step Guide, but some wanted more details on how to fulfil the steps.
So, in 2023, David fleshed out the 6 steps explaining both WHY you should implement each step and HOW you can do so.
It is now available on Amazon.
Agile implementation is much more than setting up a regular Scrum meeting and a Kanban board. This book covers the full range of elements needed to make Agile a success, from establishing a clear purpose and objectives at the start through to the improvement and learning cycles when you are underway. As well as a holistic view of the end to end process, David captures the different styles of Agile you can adopt as well as the simple and pragmatic tools you need to make it work.
If you're new to Agile, it's a great introduction. If you're experienced and running an Agile project that isn't going to plan, the book acts as a structured process to get back on track. Highly recommended.
David’s experience of successfully implementing agile ways of working within organisations shines through in this easy-to-read, visual and interactive guide. He captures his extensive knowledge of what works, and why, in this 6-step framework, providing a clear, strategic plan for organisations to follow and implement. Highly recommended.
David helps define the roadmap to start and succeed with transformations. Well worth a read if you’re stuck and don’t know where to start or what to do next on your agile journey.
If you're a leader about to embark on the journey to Agility then you'll find that this book guides you step by step through the fundamentals that help you create a platform for success. It's eventual reading if you want to avoid falling at the first hurdle of your Agile Transformation
This is a great practical guide to help organisations implement agile ways of working. David's experience shines through in the six-step process he outlines for successful agile implementations. An easy read that is packed with practical advice and real-world examples with guidance on everything from choosing the right agile framework to managing change and overcoming resistance. I'd say this is pretty much an essential resource for anybody considering or already in the process of adopting agile ways of working. The book is well-written, practical, and provides a clear roadmap for success.
I am reading tons of book & articles on Agile that focus on how to be Agile. I am not sure one can be taught how to be something but even if, one is left clueless about what that mean in concrete terms. Until one doesn't become Agile, at which point the book is not useful anymore.
Another big chunk of writings enumerates in tidy bulleted lists the pros & cons of approaches and introduces a series of abstract models that promise to save the world and with that your role. Again the question remains: how do I bring this tomorrow in my workplace?
David's book tries to combine the benefits of the 2 approaches above while overcoming their lack of immediate applicability.
Reading through the pages one can almost hear David saying "hey mate, stop listening to 2000 different voices telling you what should or should not be. No, there's no need to go through a 5-years degree either before you can start bringing change. Let me give you a very simple but highly pragmatic skeleton on how you can structure your thinking and start running some first experiments".
I think this book delivers fully on this promise.
The book describes a mini program of 6 steps. Each step is split further in 3 chapters each. Each chapter presents a technique or a workshop format that the read may try immediately.
The book is a very lightweight but not for that less impactful read.
It reads a bit like a book of self coaching augmented with checklists to verify one is not missing any important bit and enriched by storytelling to make all sections come to life.
A great companion for someone who has no clue about what experiments to run to start bringing change in their organisation and that for whatever reason either can't avail of the support of an expert or wants to try a mini pilot running it entirely on their own.
It's not the end of the journey but it can be a great way to do a first experimental step while keeping full control, validating the process as early as possible and reducing the risk of committing to non reversable changes.
Davids practical experience really shines through. So much content and brilliantly structured. Starting with purpose and desired outcomes all the way through to implementing and continuously improving new ways of working. A must have book for anyone involved in improving what they do and how they do it. Bravo.
